Asia Pacific Forestry Education Mechanism


The AP-FECM is a consortium of forest schools in the Asia-Pacific region including UC Berkeley, Kyoto University, University of Melbourne, Beijing Forestry University, Putra University of Malaysia, University of the Philippines Los Baños College, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Vietnam National University of Forestry (VNUF), Kasetsart University Thailand, National Taiwan University, National University of Laos, etc. The Executive Office of the AP-FECM is now hosted by UBC Forestry with its key mission to promote forestry education and improve capacity building of sustainable forest management across the Asia-Pacific region. There are over 58 members under the mechanism which creates a great platform for our faculty to promote international collaborations.

The Asia Pacific Forestry Education Coordination Mechanism works with as many partners as possible to build a platform for promoting strong collaboration in SFM education in order to improve overall capacity in SFM in the Asia-Pacific region. The specific objectives of the mechanism include:

  • To provide a platform for exchanging academic information and sharing education resources between forestry institutions;
  • To promote innovation and reform in forestry education and share achievements;
  • To improve overall capacity in SFM in the region.
